Kiel, located at the natural harbour Kiel firth, is a unique city. With its maritime charm, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein does not only fascinate at the Kiel Week, which is the biggest sailing event in the world, with regattas of Olympic and international status. Of course there are numerous sailing ships out of the regatta to marvel at, like for example the Gorch Fock.
Some ships carry out cruises for visitors and so does our Tall Ship Eldorado. The day and evening cruises on board the Tall Ship Eldorado take place on the popular Kiel firth. Due to the local conditions, sails can be set right after leaving the harbour. Passing cruise liners and big ferries, we sail through the strait near Friedrichsort, where on the starboard side the picturesque town of Laboe with its marvelous beach, the submarine museum and the prominent Naval Memorial lies. At the end of this eventful sailing cruise, you will have a stunning view of the northern and southern locks of the Kiel Canal, the busiest man-made waterway in the world.
